Summary
Assist in the creation of electrical designs and documentation for control panel systems, using CAD tools under the direction of senior staff while ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed and accurate electrical designs and drawing packages, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to project specifications
- Use SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical to develop schematics, layouts, and documentation
- Execute full-cycle electrical design and drafting tasks
- Assist with layout and assembly of PLC control panels, enclosures, HMIs, wiring, and I/O components in accordance with UL 508A standards
- Interpret and work from schematic diagrams, one-line drawings, and electrical data sheets to ensure correct system integration and functionality
- Review designs to identify conflicts, inconsistencies, or errors in panel layouts and schematics, and proactively resolve issues
- Assist in producing 2D panel layouts from conceptual sketches provided by engineers and senior design staff, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Support project engineers and managers in preparing panel designs and documentation for quotes, bids, and project planning activities
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, communicate clearly, ask questions when needed, and help ensure projects are completed on time
Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in CAD design and production of electrical design documents
- SolidWorks Electrical or AutoCAD Electrical experience required
- At least 0-3 years of experience in conduit schedules and layout work, cable tray schedules and layout work, schematics, power one-lines, and field verification and auditing experience.
- Knowledge of electrical control schematics and wiring diagrams for motor controls, and process control
- Familiarity with design/layout of PLC Panels, enclosures, logic and I/O components, wiring, wiring duct, HMIs, wiring, terminal blocks, etc
- Familiarity with control panel layout, UL 508/A standards, PLCs, and network
- Capable of recognizing conflicts and discrepancies in a panel layout and/or schematic drawing with help from upper management
- Experience with engineering, manufacturing, and/or oil and gas environments preferred.
- Excellent communication and organization skills,
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based programs is required
- A High School Diploma or G.E.D. required Associate’s or higher degree in computer-Aided Drafting, Applied Science, or related technical education is preferred
