Electrical Designer (Remote)
Location: Remote (U.S.-Based)
Compensation: $50.00 – $65.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

About the Opportunity
We are actively seeking experienced Electrical Designers to support a variety of industrial, energy, manufacturing, and process facility projects throughout the United States. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical design capabilities, experience working within multidisciplinary project teams, and the ability to independently develop construction-ready electrical design packages with minimal supervision.
Position Summary
As an Electrical Designer, you will work closely with Electrical Engineers, Designers, Project Managers, and other technical disciplines to develop and deliver detailed electrical designs for industrial facilities. You will be responsible for creating and coordinating construction documents, supporting project execution, conducting design reviews, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while supporting projects across industries such as Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, Energy, Mining, Manufacturing, and other industrial sectors. Occasional travel to client sites may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed electrical design packages for industrial and process facility projects.
- Design wiring, conduit, cable tray, grounding, power distribution, and lighting systems.
- Prepare and maintain construction drawings utilizing AutoCAD and other design software.
- Collaborate with Electrical Engineers and multidisciplinary project teams throughout project execution.
- Coordinate project deliverables, schedules, and design requirements.
- Perform field verification and as-built documentation activities.
- Review and incorporate vendor documentation into project designs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary coordination with piping, controls, instrumentation, mechanical, and civil teams.
- Contribute to and extract information from 3D design models when applicable.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, material take-offs (MTOs), and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Perform quality checks and ensure design compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Support project document control and drawing management processes.
- Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance as appropriate.

Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in Engineering Technology, Drafting, Design, or a related technical discipline; OR equivalent industry experience.
- 8+ years of electrical design experience supporting industrial facilities.
- Experience supporting projects within Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, Chemical Processing, Manufacturing, Energy, Mining, or similar industries.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (2010 or newer versions).
- Experience designing electrical systems for NEC-classified hazardous locations.
- Ability to develop complete construction drawing packages.
- Familiarity with stage-gated project execution processes.
- Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D design platforms and modeling software.
- Knowledge of control systems and instrumentation design.
- Previous experience working onsite within industrial operating facilities.
- Experience supporting maintenance, reliability, turnaround, or capital project teams.
- Lighting design and heat trace application experience.
- Experience mentoring junior designers and technical staff.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering workflows.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform occasional site visits to industrial facilities.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms while utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain and navigate active industrial environments.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds when required.
