POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineering Manager will lead, develop, and continuously improve the engineering and design team to complete engineering & design efforts towards project design, engineering, procurement, drafting, and product life cycle management of large scale manufactured industrial equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the engineering team on selecting and sizing equipment for fluid handling systems such as pumps, piping, valves, instrumentation, etc.
- Direct team to create 3D SolidWorks layouts (general arrangements), P&IDs, structural drawings, mechanical assembly drawings, and others as needed to support the production floor.
- Coordinate with the manufacturing shop on all fabricated, pre-assembled, and manufactured system designs.
- Technical resource and decision-making authority to guide designs for safety, manufacturability, reliability, and within budgets.
- Act as an independent project manager of key accounts as required.
- Select engineered equipment to be used in engineered product design.
- Review/ create project proposals that accurately depict offerings to our client.
- Proficient at guiding facility layouts due to maintenance, reliability, and serviceability needs.
- Review mechanical and electrical manufacturing for accuracy and intended function based on the project design.
- Liaison between the engineering/ design team and the production team
- Coordinate material take-offs for purchase of all materials required for fabrication and installation of provided prefabricated and unitized systems.
- Ability to review industry documents to guide designs, including ASME, ANSI, NEC, NFPA, ASTM, customer specifications, and further as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or technical engineering, math, or science is required.
- 5+ plus years of experience with each of the following:
- Engineering design
- Engineering management role with direct reports
- Oil & gas surface equipment
- Mechanical systems and associated components (i.e. pumps, piping, and instrumentation)
- Working as an independent project manager
- SolidWorks
- EIT registration is preferred.
- Experience developing/ reviewing drawings for manufacturing of industrial equipment is required
- SolidWorks and AutoCAD, 3D, 2D drafting experience beyond a basic level is required.
- Experience with selection and specification of engineered equipment is required
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience is strongly preferred.
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Proactive communicator that manages customer and vendor relationships.
- Effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
- Ability to lead a team of engineers and provide mentorship for individual technical and organization growth.
