About the Role
The New Product Development Engineer – Lighting / Electrical will lead the research, design, and engineering of new products to enhance premium product collections. This role transforms market research and trend analysis into innovative designs that align with industry demand and manufacturing capabilities. From concept development through prototyping, the engineer will drive the creation of high-quality fixtures, including the integration of lighting and electrical components.
Key Responsibilities

Develop design concepts and identify viable solutions

Present product ideas to cross-functional teams for collaboration and feedback

Engineer concepts from prototype through final design

Research industry and customer trends to identify opportunities

Investigate product technologies for integration into new designs

Collaborate with production/manufacturing to ensure smooth design-to-production flow

Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all manufactured products

Update revisions to BOMs and design documentation as needed

Apply value engineering practices to reduce costs while maintaining quality

Assemble prototypes, including lighting and electrical integration

Follow other instructions and perform duties as assigned by management
Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in design, engineering, or related field

5+ years of engineering experience in wood or metal manufacturing (store fixture industry preferred)

Expertise in working with multiple materials (wood, metal, plastics, glass) and integrated lighting/electrical systems

Strong knowledge of wood/metal manufacturing techniques (cabinetry, laminating, hardware)

Familiarity with lighting and electrical design (LEDs, low-voltage wiring, drivers, controls, power distribution)

Knowledge of UL/ETL certification requirements and compliance standards

Proficiency in Autodesk software (AutoCAD, Vault, or equivalent)

Ability to mentor and train junior engineers

Contribute to development of engineering standards and specifications

Working knowledge of ERP software
