Senior Structural Engineer

Job Type: Contract
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience and location

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to support the analysis, design, and execution of complex industrial, manufacturing, commercial, and infrastructure projects. This role will be a key contributor within a multidisciplinary engineering team, collaborating closely with engineers, designers, project managers, and clients to deliver high-quality structural solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in structural engineering principles, extensive experience with U.S. building codes and design standards, and the ability to independently perform structural analysis and design for a variety of project types. Opportunities may include serving as a Lead Structural Engineer on mid-sized projects or supporting larger, multi-discipline projects as a senior technical contributor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural engineering analysis and design with minimal supervision.
  • Develop structural design concepts and engineering solutions for project requirements.
  • Conduct structural calculations and analyses for steel, concrete, and other structural systems.
  • Apply engineering judgment in evaluating, selecting, and adapting engineering methods, procedures, and design criteria.
  • Perform lateral analysis and design for wind and seismic loading in accordance with applicable building codes and standards.
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure structural requirements are integrated into project deliverables.
  • Prepare, review, and validate engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
  • Perform quality reviews and calculation checks of engineering work.
  • Manage assigned workload while maintaining project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
  • Identify scope changes, technical risks, and project challenges, communicating them proactively to project leadership.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior engineers and designers.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, engineering standards, workflows, and implementation of emerging technologies.
  • Participate in project planning, estimating, and engineering execution activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
  • 10+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. building codes and design standards, including:
    • International Building Code (IBC)
    • ASCE 7
    • ACI
    • AISC
  • Experience performing structural analysis and design for steel and concrete structures.
  • Proficiency with structural engineering analysis software and industry-standard engineering tools.
  • Experience with project coordination in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, semiconductor, energy, chemical, or other large-scale facilities projects.
  • Experience serving as a Lead Engineer or leading engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks, Bluebeam, and other engineering collaboration tools.
  • Experience working in EPC, consulting engineering, owner-operator, or design-build environments.
