About the Role
The Senior Design Engineer will operate within a component-driven, modular-based fixture system, developing cost-effective design solutions for both standard and custom applications. This position will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure designs align with manufacturing processes, provide detailed CAD data, and support production from concept to completion. The role includes a balance of design, research, prototyping, documentation, estimating, and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed fixture designs and drawings for internal and external review.

Apply best-practice design methods to optimize efficiency and quality.

Manage large and complex projects to ensure timely completion.

Source and develop details for cost-effective, high-quality production.

Create assembly and installation drawings for production teams and end users.

Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure seamless workflows.

Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for all products.

Revise BOMs as needed to reflect design changes.

Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through value engineering.

Participate in prototype assembly and testing.

Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and documentation.

Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Design, Engineering, or a related field.

8+ years of engineering experience in a wood or metal manufacturing environment (store fixture experience preferred).

Strong expertise in multi-material design (wood, metal, plastics, glass, etc.).

Solid understanding of manufacturing methods including cabinetry, laminating, joinery, and hardware.

Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, aluminum machining, die casting, and extrusion (preferred).

Proficiency in 3D solid modeling (Autodesk Inventor preferred).

Experience with Autodesk tools such as AutoCAD and Vault (or equivalent).

Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.

Experience contributing to engineering standards and specifications.

Working knowledge of ERP systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
